The Public Employment Service (SPE) was created by presidential decree on May 12, 2001.
The mission of this PES is to promote employment.
This mission is broken down through the following axes :

• Intermediation between employers and job seekers, which aims to increase employment opportunities,
• The design, financing and monitoring of programs relating to :
  • On the job and apprenticeship training,
  • Formal training,
  • Self-creation of employment,
  • Support for the creation of micro-enterprises,
  • Any other program, depending on the requirements of the job market.
• Dissemination of information on the labor market

It is made up of the following bodies :

• A Board of Directors ;
• A General Directorate; and
• Five Regional and Local Agencies.
